My dear friend and editor, Sandi Tompkins, has been battling kidney failure for several years. She lost that battle yesterday, but she has won the war. She is now forever in the arms of Jesus. Her husband, co-editor, and best friend Scott, posted this announcement today:

My beloved wife Sandi Tompkins departed this life today, and I can picture her now in the arms of Jesus. The last few days she’s been in the loving care of Hospice of East Texas as she suffered from kidney failure and painful infections in her legs. Our two wonderful daughters — Bonnie Crawford and Melody Fillmore — were with their mom night and day through her final hours on earth, and my brother Bernie Tompkins was a huge moral support for me. She was a great wife, mom, and grandma, plus a terrific writing coach, teacher, and hospitality queen. There’s a big hole in my heart now but I’m forever grateful for the 50+ years we had together. Her service will be on July 20 at Community Christian Fellowship here in Lindale. We haven’t set the time yet. Thanks to all who have prayed for us and sent food over these past few days. We love you all.

If you have enjoyed my books, it’s thanks to Sandi’s brilliance as an editor. In fact, she’s the one who encouraged me to write a book in the first place. Her absence leaves an emptiness in my heart that is only comforted by knowing that one day we will see each other again and we will never have to say goodbye.

Please keep Scott and the rest of their family in your prayers.
