Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants (Psalm 116:15).

Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds (John 12:24).

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).

On September 10, Turning Point USA founder, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated in front of thouseands of students during an open forum debate on the Utah Valley University campus. Charlie lived his life with purpose. He saw unrighteousness in the world and chose to confront it. He loved God, his family, and his country. And God blessed him for it.

Scripture tells us God’s sees the death of His saints as precious, and we know Charlie was welcomed into heaven with a chorus of, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Meanwhile, on earth, we mourn his death and pray for God’s comfort for his family. Our pain and numbness will linger for a while as we process this heinous act. But we must not lose hope. When confronted with the wickedness in this world, we know what the enemy meant for evil, God will turn to good.

Dutch Sheets in his Give Him 15 post puts it in perspective:

“Charlie was an amazing young man, only 31 years of age. Yet, because of the voice God gave him, he spoke to 100,000,000 young people on social media every month. It was probably Charlie’s influence that turned so many of the young generation toward Donald Trump in the recent presidential election. It is no exaggeration to say that because of this, he helped change and shape the course of America’s political history today.

…I prayed ernestly and fervently for his survival, but as I did Holy Spirit kept taking me to Acts, chapter 7, which is the account of Stephen’s martyrdom. I couldn’t help but be reminded of how God had spared our president with a supernaturally motivated nod of his head. Why not Charlie? I wondered.

…The attempt to silence Stephen’s voice only amplified it. And through the pages of Scripture, it speaks to us yet today.

God never gives satan the last word, and will not do so where Charlie Kirk is concerned. His death only poured gas on a movement, fanning the flames of revival in throusands of young people across our nation. They will pick up the torch and burn with holy fire, as they carry Charlie’s message of revival and reformation. Through this, his voice will not be silenced, his life is now a seed that will multiply.”

In the illustration of the seed in John 12, it’s clear Jesus is talking about His own death. However, He is also giving us a kingdom principle and a promise for today. While we don’t understand Charlie’s senseless murder, we can rest in the fact that God won’t let his death go to waste. Not only will He bring good from it, He will multiply the fruit of Charlie’s life.

At a worship and prayer service at my church last night, a friend prophecied that Charlie’s death will cause a nation of young people will rise up in revival. I join with her in agreement. No political party, no civil revolt, no party leader can turn this nation around — only Jesus can. Charlie knew that. Not only did he speak commmon sense to our next generation, he boldly spoke the gospel. May his life be a catalyst for this next generation to rise up and amplify his voice as this young army takes up the message of the gospel.

Satan has already lost this battle.
